Currently: I am a photographer who focuses on capturing people and pets in their natural environment. I spend time with the my subjects in order to get a feel for their personalities and use my photojournalist experience to capture their essence or story.
Recently: I was a Ph.D. candidate in the Educational Psychology and Educational Technology program (EPET) at Michigan State University. As a graduate assistant, I taught CEP416: Teaching and Learning with Technology along with some other courses at MSU. After having been a teacher in 3rd and 6th grades for ten years, I thought I might become a researcher helping to improve the educational system but found as much as I like teaching, academic research is not for me.
Personal Background: I grew up in Escanaba, Michigan. Before going to NMU and becoming a teacher, I was a photographer and eventually the Photo Editor for the Escanaba Daily Press.
I have a terrific daughter, Alex, who recently graduated from the University of Michigan and is going to MSU’s Law School this fall. Some of my favorite hobbies are reading, writing, playing video games, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and kayaking.
